Oaks Amusement Park
Oaks Amusement Park is
one of the oldest, continuously operating amusement parks in the United States.
It has been open since 1905. The carousel is a 1911 Herschell-Spillman
menagerie, 2 level, park model carousel with 13 jumpers, 11 standers, 2
chariots, 2 tubs and 26 menagerie animals including 1 kangaroo, 4 frogs, 2
mules, 2 zebras, 1 cat, 3 dogs, 1 dragon, 1 goat, 2 zebras, 1 stork, 1 tiger, 3
roosters, 2 pigs, 2 ostriches, 1 giraffe and 1 lion. The carousel is listed in
the National Register of Historic Places.
The carousel was
refurbished in 2010 and is in excellent condition.
The original location of
the carousel is unknown, but it has been at Oaks since 1924.
Oaks Park offers a
variety of children’s and adult rides in addition to a roller
skating rink.
